Letter from the Director

Welcome to this San Diego Better Events inaugural edition.

Approximately two years ago the idea of creating a magazine started running through my mind. Being a professional photographer for 15 years in the field of social events, I believe that the most viable thought is to create a well-rounded social event magazine.  Currently a substantial amount of magazines covering social events exist.  However, I realized that they lack the vast diversity that a community like San Diego holds. The great variety of social events with either a cultural or corporate feel have an extensive array of people, traditions, customs, and trends; this is only to cover the surface of this immense bowl where a blend of cultures from all over the world happens every day.

What started as an idea, with luck time after I found adequate people for this project filled with in enthusiasm and truly committed to make this magazine be a true success.  First of all, I am grateful and encouraged to commit to work as a team with all my collaborators.

I would like to specially thank the associate director Ana Lilia Villalobos.  Who was the one of the first  people that believed in my project and perceived with exactness the goals and the focus of this magazine.
We live in a media saturated society more than other times.  Day by Day, different mediums forms have taken the task of selling us the idea of a fragile and uncertain economy.  Negative news, that I feel dehumanize and desensitize the human quality that we all have.  That is why the focus of our magazine will be a positive.  Within the purpose of our magazine we want to bring forth a spirit of encouragement and positive ambiance, with articles like the success stories of our vendors.  Articles of Entertainment, cuisine, the arts, social event planning, corporate events, informative seminars, etc…  All with an optimistic and constructive focus.

I truly hope that the magazine will be at the delight of our Readers.  We also hope that they help us to improve this great project.  I ask that you send us your comments or suggestions to let the magazine reach a higher standard to land directly to your hands. Also, remember to follow us through our webpage, Twitter and Facebook.

Thank you,
Mariano Garduño
